The Little Shop on the Corner (that was) . . .

What started as a dream to create a “little shop on the corner” to add to the collective of small business owners in the historic shopping district on NW 23rd in Portland, Oregon became a reality in 2018. We envisioned a place where artisans from places far and near would have the fruits of their labors displayed and enjoyed in a protected environment. We believe art should not only be seen, but also be touched and interacted with by customers, and be reasonably priced. And that’s how **Like Nobody’s Business** began.
We also wanted to create a space where artists and customers could feel comfortable just coming in to talk, drink their coffee, and let us pet their furry friends! In other words, we wanted to create “community,” a quality that’s often missing from big box and online stores. We treated everyone who walked through our door as someone deserving of respect and help when needed. You might have come in as a stranger, but we did our best to ensure you left as a friend. In addition, we stood and still stand behind every product that we sell, so if you’re not happy with something you’ve purchased, no problem. We’ll make it right!
It is with very heavy hearts that we closed the physical location of Like Nobody’s Business after six wonderful years. It took us over a year of discussion to make the decision to close. We had a lot of good times, many laughs, and met a great number of wonderful people from around the world during those six years. We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all those who came out in support of small and boutique businesses like ours over the years, particularly during the difficult times. We are so grateful for each and every one of our customers and all those who visited us. We knew without a doubt that when we closed our door at night, that it was because of our loyal customers that we were able to open the door the next morning.
**As the sign on the window once said, “We’re not just a store. We’re an experience.” We truly do hope that if you visited us, that you feel we kept that promise.**

If the photo or description of an item is not detailed enough for you, we’d be happy to give you more information about the item so you will know before you buy if it’s just the right item for you!
